National Autism Acceptance Month Kicks Off with Special Event at TAO Downtown

April is National Autism Acceptance Month, and Tao Group Hospitality is celebrating and supporting individuals with autism. On Tuesday, March 28th, Tao Group Hospitality Cares hosted a kick-off event at TAO Downtown in New York City. The event was filled with fun activities, including salad and pizza making, storytelling, and a tour of the kitchen with Chef Ralph Scamardella.

The event was attended by students from Eden 2 Programs and our work-study program through P226M, who had the opportunity to learn new skills and have fun while doing so. Salad and pizza making allowed the students to get creative in the kitchen, while storytelling helped them develop their communication skills and meet team members of Tao Group Hospitality. The grand tour of the kitchen with Chef Ralph Scamardella was a highlight of the day, as the students learned about the inner workings of a busy restaurant kitchen.

As part of our efforts, we have partnered with Eden 2 Programs, a nonprofit organization that provides education and services for individuals with autism. Our work-study program provides individuals with autism the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and learn new skills in a supportive environment. We also have sensory bags in conjunction with KultureCity that help those with autism enjoy a family dinner at our locations.
